Sweet Dream By Akmal Shaukat

'Element of pure magic and a hint of darkness'.

Beautiful Nightmare By Akmal Shaukat

A dream is a succession of thoughts, images, sounds or emotions which the mind experiences during sleep. The content and purpose of dreams are not fully understood, though they have been a topic of speculation and interest throughout recorded history. The scientific study of dreams is known as oneirology.

Dreams were historically used for healing (as in the asclepieions found in the ancient Greek temples of Asclepius) as well as for guidance or divine inspiration.

Geisha By Akmal Shaukat

'She paints her face to hide her face. Her eyes are deep water. It is not for Geisha to want. It is not for geisha to feel. Geisha is an artist of the floating world. She dances, she sings. She entertains you, whatever you want. The rest is shadows, the rest is secret'.

Issue 1 Volume 2 - The Texture Labb Magazine

For The Texture Labb Magazine

Do Android's Dream Of Electric Sheep?

#Untitled Screen Prints

‘A journey into wonderland from an attic in Manningham’.

Having graduated from Bradford School of Art with a First Class Honours in Graphic Media Communication, Akmal took time reflecting on consolidating what he had learned and experienced through his art work.

Now upon coming to an end of his journey, he plans to showcase his collection ‘A journey into wonderland from an attic in Manningham’. The collection of work is a testament of his journey. His personal life experiences coming from the streets of Manningham to walking the runways as a fashion model.

The collection will give you an insight how his vision was formed from his personal experiences of growing years and growing pains, through his ‘magical realism’. Akmal combines his adulation of the female form from his influences from contemporary pop culture to illustrate his experiences. Giving this expression a reality, he observes people and himself, and gives attitude to his characters and illustrations to willingness desperation to be part of his world.

He provides extreme realism to mundane subject matter, rather than simply revealing the surface he un-wraps the levels of mystery to look at the core. He Combines street-edginess, beauty and innocence, to the strong, mysterious and seduction of magical features on to his mundane reality.

‘There are many new worlds and realms to explore which are still alien to the current society. Deeper mysteries will always threaten the simple and the ingenuous. The question is to represent before our eyes, fuck political correctness or model function, what I do is open doors for people who dare to go through it, into a weird and very seductive wonderland’.

‘My work is about passion and energy channelled to create evoking illustrations from personal narratives and experiences. It’s not fashion, nor lifestyle, nor digital, for digital sake. It is capturing pure energy expressed in a meditative state, tapping into the energy of the universe and my subconscious and so presenting’.
